HYROX Geneva 2026: Complete Race Weekend Guide 🏋️
Confirmed Palexpo dates, the easiest hotels and transport, and a race plan your whole group can follow.
HYROX Geneva runs Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October 2026 in Halls 4 and 5 at Palexpo. The venue is beside Geneva Airport, which makes this one of the simplest European HYROX weekends—if you resist booking a picturesque hotel on the opposite side of the city.
This guide separates what is confirmed from what is still pending. Event dates and venue are live; individual wave times, the final athlete guide and event-specific 2026 prices may arrive later. Use the ranges below to reserve the trip, then recheck your HYROX account before departure.
1. Geneva at a glance
Confirmed dates
October 9-11, 2026
Venue
Palexpo Halls 4 & 5, Route François-Peyrot 30
Best race base
Geneva Airport / Le Grand-Saconnex
City-base alternative
Cornavin station or nearby Pâquis
Planning budget
CHF 590-1,580 per person before travel to Geneva
⚠️ The public event page confirms the weekend but not every athlete's wave. Do not build a non-refundable Friday-evening arrival around a guessed Saturday start. If your division day is not shown at booking, arrive Thursday or choose flexible travel and accommodation.
2. Plan the weekend together
3. Understand the race before booking
The 2026/27 HYROX rulebook keeps the standard format: eight 1 km runs, each followed by one functional station. The order is SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls. Distances and loads vary by division; the eight kilometres of running do not.
🏃 Singles
You complete every run and station yourself. Choose Open or Pro only after checking the current rulebook's loads—not from an old social post. The race is open entry; qualification is not required.
🤝 Doubles
Both partners run all eight kilometres together, while station work can be split “you go, I go.” Agree how to divide each station in training. The resting partner must follow the current station rules.
4️⃣ Relay
A four-person relay is the social option: each person takes two 1 km runs and two stations. It works well when a group wants one shared race without asking every traveller to train for the full format.
⏱️ Wave times
HYROX assigns wave starts and communicates the official start time before race day. Race only in that assigned wave; the current rulebook says an unapproved earlier or later start can mean disqualification.
💡 One organiser, three deadlines: record the ticket name deadline, accommodation cancellation date and start-time release date in one shared plan. Those are the three details most likely to split the group.
4. Where to stay
✈️ Airport / Le Grand-Saconnex — easiest for racers
Pick this area if the race is the purpose of the trip. Several airport hotels sit within roughly 10-20 minutes on foot or a short bus ride of Palexpo. You can return to the room after racing without crossing the city, and an early flight home is painless.
The compromise is atmosphere: dinner and late-night options are thinner than central Geneva. Confirm that your hotel's airport shuttle operates at the hour you need—it may not help with Palexpo itself.
🚆 Cornavin — best balance
Geneva's main station is the smart mixed-group base. Swiss trains take about ten minutes to Genève-Aéroport; Palexpo is then a ten-minute walk. Racers get a predictable journey while supporters retain restaurants, lake access and easy onward rail.
🌃 Pâquis — restaurants and nightlife
Pâquis is walkable from Cornavin and livelier after dark. It suits supporters or a group extending the weekend. Check the exact nighttime street and recent hotel reviews: convenience changes block by block.
🏘️ Carouge — lovely, but not race-efficient
Carouge has cafés and a village feel, but adds a cross-city connection. Save it for a post-race meal or an extra night. It is not the best base for a nervous early starter carrying kit.
5. Getting to Palexpo
🚄 From central Geneva
Take a train from Genève-Cornavin to Genève-Aéroport, then follow signs toward Palexpo. Palexpo quotes ten minutes by train from the city centre and a ten-minute walk from the airport station. Build in another 15 minutes for crowds and finding Halls 4 and 5.
🚌 By bus
Palexpo lists lines 5, 8, 50, 55, 58 and 59 for the “Palexpo” stop. Lines 28, 54 and 66 use “Palexpo-Halle 7.” Check live routing on race morning because the useful line depends on your hotel and road controls.
🚗 Driving
P12 is open 24 hours and has 1,500 spaces, but Palexpo says spaces cannot be reserved. Parking also creates a finish-time coordination problem. Public transport is safer unless your group stays outside Geneva.
🛬 From the airport
Do not book an airport transfer automatically: the terminals, airport station and Palexpo are adjacent. A suitcase-friendly hotel here can remove two paid transfers from the weekend.
6. A race-day timeline that works
📱 The night before
Screenshot your ticket, assigned start time and venue map. Put ID, race shoes and familiar kit in one bag. Doubles partners should confirm their meeting time and station split. Supporters should save the athlete's surname and the agreed post-finish meeting point.
🕒 About 2½ hours before
Leave the hotel. This is deliberately conservative: it absorbs the station walk, security, registration, bag drop, toilets and an unfamiliar hall. Replace this buffer only when the final athlete guide gives a specific check-in window.
🎟️ At registration
Follow the event-specific instructions for ID, timing chip and wristband. Check the printed division and start time before leaving the desk. Do not let the group carry one person's essential race documents.
🔥 60-30 minutes before
Use the warm-up area without turning it into a workout. Visit the toilet, take only rehearsed food or drink and enter the start zone when called. The rulebook requires the issued timing chip to stay on your ankle.
📍 After the finish
Walk, collect belongings and meet outside the busiest finish channel. “At the exit” is too vague in a convention centre. Choose a photographed sign or map pin and decide how long supporters wait before messaging.
7. Three-night itinerary
🌙 Thursday — arrive and remove friction
Check in, walk the route to Palexpo, buy any transport product you need and eat a normal early dinner. Pick up water and breakfast from a supermarket. No new foods, heroic sightseeing or “just one” late drink.
🏋️ Friday/Saturday — race according to your division
Keep the race day free until wave assignments are official. Supporters can rotate between the course and a nearby break rather than standing for every minute. Book the celebratory dinner only after the slowest likely finish plus two hours.
🌊 The spare day — see Geneva lightly
Walk the lakefront, Old Town and Parc des Bastions. If legs feel good, add Carouge. Avoid a fixed mountain excursion before all athletes have raced; weather and wave schedules make it the least flexible choice.
☕ Sunday/Monday — recover and travel
Choose an easy breakfast, a short walk and a late checkout if available. Airport-area racers can stay relaxed while city guests should allow for train frequency, luggage and a busy terminal.
8. Realistic budget per person
Prices below are planning reserves in Swiss francs, not quoted event prices. They assume three nights, shared accommodation and travel to Geneva booked separately. Check the checkout total—including service or booking fees— before your group commits.

9. What to pack

10. Mistakes that cost time or money
❌ Guessing your race day
Wait for the division schedule and personal wave. Flexible bookings are worth more than a tiny fare saving.
❌ Booking one giant apartment blindly
Confirm legal occupancy, actual beds, cancellation terms and distance to a useful stop—not just the map's straight line.
❌ Eating together at the wrong time
Different waves need different meal schedules. Make one flexible grocery run instead of forcing one pre-race dinner.
❌ Following last season's rules
Use the current 2026/27 rulebook and the Geneva athlete guide when published. Loads, processes and penalties can change.
11. Source check and booking checklist
We checked the official HYROX Geneva event listing and 2026/27 Singles and Doubles rulebooks, plus Palexpo's current access page, on 3 September 2026. Recheck all three before payment because wave times, ticket inventory and venue instructions are live operational details.
- Confirm every racer's division and ticket name.
- Book Thursday arrival or flexible travel until the schedule is certain.
- Choose Airport/Grand-Saconnex for racing or Cornavin for balance.
- Save the final athlete guide, assigned wave and meeting point offline.
- Keep a shared total with fees and a payment deadline for each person.
