HYROX Dublin 2026: Complete Race Weekend Travel Guide ๐ฎ๐ช
How to use Ballsbridge as a race base, reach the RDS, and keep a five-day event manageable for racers and supporters.
HYROX Dublin is scheduled for Wednesday 11 to Sunday 15 November 2026 at the RDS in Ballsbridge. Five event days create more flight options, but also a trap: your division may not race on the day your group assumes.
The winning plan is to stay near the RDS, hold flexible bookings until division and wave times are confirmed, and treat central Dublin as an easy outing rather than the race-day base.
1. Dublin at a glance
Confirmed dates
November 11-15, 2026
Venue
RDS, Simmonscourt Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4
Best race base
Ballsbridge
Best mixed base
Sandymount or Grand Canal Dock
Planning budget
โฌ575-1,450 per person before travel to Dublin
โ ๏ธ The official event page says athlete race information will be added closer to the event. Keep Wednesday-to-Sunday division assumptions out of non-refundable bookings until HYROX publishes them for Dublin.
2. Build one shared race plan
3. The format and decisions to settle early
Every standard HYROX race alternates eight 1 km runs with SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls. Loads and repetitions depend on division, so every racer should use the current 2026/27 rulebook.
๐ Singles
One athlete completes all eight runs and stations. Open is not โeasyโ; it is still eight kilometres under fatigue. Choose the division you trained for and verify the current loads before purchase.
๐ค Doubles
Partners run together and split station work. Rehearse the handover on SkiErg, row and wall balls, then decide who opens the sleds. Vague โwe'll swap when tiredโ plans waste time.
4๏ธโฃ Relay
Four athletes each take two runs and two stations. It is a good mixed fitness option, but everyone still needs their own ticket details, meeting time and understanding of the relay handover.
๐ Supporters
Spectator access is separate from athlete entry. Buy the correct day after division schedules are known and agree a meeting point away from the finish funnel. Do not assume same-day re-entry rules.
๐ก If the group is choosing between Doubles and Singles, decide before ticket sales. A Doubles partner is part of the entry, not someone to find after the accommodation is booked.
4. Where to stay
๐๏ธ Ballsbridge โ best for racers
Stay here if a calm race morning matters most. Many properties are walkable to the RDS, so changing weather, taxis and DART disruptions matter less. The neighbourhood has pubs and restaurants without the Temple Bar noise.
Search by walking route to the Simmonscourt side named in the event listing, not merely โRDS.โ A large venue can turn the wrong gate into an avoidable pre-race loop.
๐ Sandymount โ quiet and practical
Sandymount combines village cafรฉs, a DART station and a short walk to the RDS. It suits athletes who want sleep and supporters who prefer a pleasant local base. Late-night options are limited.
๐ Grand Canal Dock โ best compromise
This is useful for a group mixing work, restaurants and racing. The DART and walk toward Ballsbridge are straightforward, while the city centre remains close. Weekend room rates can still be high.
๐ป City centre โ social, not simplest
Choose the south-east city centre near Pearse rather than the far side of the Liffey if racing. Temple Bar puts nightlife first, costs more and can compromise sleep. It is better as a post-race visit.
๐ซ Airport hotels โ poor race base
Dublin Airport is north of the city while the RDS is south-east. Stay there only for a very early final-night flight; otherwise you add road traffic to every useful journey.
5. Getting to the RDS
๐ DART
The RDS lists Lansdowne Road and Sandymount stations as short walks. Check which one is closer to the entrance in the final athlete guide. Tap on and off correctly when using Leap on rail.
๐ Bus
Nearby listed services include 4, 7, 7a, 27X, 18 and S2. Routes E1, E2, 7b, 7d, 39a, 84x, 116 and 155 stop around the N11, roughly a ten-minute walk away. Use TFI Live for the race-morning stop.
๐ณ Fares
TFI currently lists an adult โฌ2.00 90-minute Leap fare across eligible Dublin bus, Luas, DART and commuter rail journeys in Zone 1. The daily adult cap is โฌ6.00. Express airport services can price separately.
๐ Parking
RDS parking is limited and event-dependent. Its current visitor price is โฌ10 per day, subject to availability and exceptions. That is not a reservation. Avoid making the car your only race-morning plan.
6. Airport plan
๐ Airport bus to the city
Compare the live airport coach stops with your hotel's exact location. A direct coach near Merrion Square or Grand Canal can be easier than changing in the centre, but Ballsbridge guests may still need a local bus, taxi or walk.
๐ Taxi or pre-booked car
This is practical for three or four people with luggage, especially outside peak traffic. Compare the full vehicle price with four coach fares. Never promise a fixed journey time across Dublin at rush hour.
๐งณ Arrival rule
Arrive the day before your scheduled race, not the morning of it. A delayed flight should cost sightseeing timeโnot registration, sleep or the start line.
7. Race-day timeline
๐ Night before
Screenshot the ticket and assigned wave; pack photo ID, race kit and familiar nutrition. Confirm the correct RDS gate. Doubles partners should repeat the station plan and choose a backup meeting point.
๐ About 2ยฝ hours before
Leave your accommodation. This allows for rain, queues, registration, toilets, bag drop and navigation. When the Dublin athlete guide arrives, replace this estimate with its explicit check-in window.
โ Check-in
Follow the current instructions; third-party schedules indicate race-day check-in and physical ID, but HYROX's own Dublin athlete guide is the final authority. Verify division, wave, chip and wristband.
๐ฅ Warm-up
Warm up for the first run and SkiErg, not for all eight stations. Enter the start zone when called and keep your timing chip on your ankle throughout the race.
๐ Finish and regroup
Meet at a specific numbered door, sign or map pin outside the finish flow. The first finisher should not leave with the only room key. Keep one supporter responsible for the group chat.
8. A flexible three-night itinerary
โ๏ธ Day 1 โ arrive and scout
Check in, walk to the correct RDS entrance, buy breakfast and keep dinner familiar. If staying centrally, ride the DART route once before race morning.
๐๏ธ Race day โ protect the schedule
Leave the day empty until wave times are final. Supporters should avoid an attraction with a fixed slot. Set dinner late enough for the slowest athlete to finish, change and travel without rushing.
๐ถ Spare day โ compact Dublin
Walk St Stephen's Green, Grafton Street and Trinity's surrounding streets, then choose one museum or the coastal DART. A packed pub crawl before anyone races is bad trip design.
๐ฅฃ Departure day โ easy recovery
Brunch locally, take a short flat walk and allow generous airport time. If the flight is very early, consider moving only the final night to an airport hotel rather than commuting from there all weekend.
9. Budget per person
This reserve assumes three shared nights and excludes travel to Dublin. Event entry pricing can change by division and sales window, so the entry line is a planning range until the live checkout confirms your total.

๐ก Compare a Ballsbridge hotel's higher nightly price with the value of removing four taxi journeys. The cheapest room can be the expensive trip when eight people keep crossing the city.
10. Packing list
Dublin Race Weekend Essentials
- ๐Tested race shoes โ Bring them in hand luggage with your full race kit
- ๐ชชPhoto ID and ticket โ Keep offline copies and follow the Dublin athlete guide
- ๐ง๏ธWaterproof outer layer โ November rain and the walk to the RDS are a real combination
- ๐งฆDry finish clothes โ Pack socks, top and a warm layer in a small bag
- ๐ฅคFamiliar nutrition โ Use only products already tested in training
- ๐Type G adapter โ Ireland uses the UK-style three-pin socket
- ๐ณTwo payment methods โ Keep a physical card separate from your phone
- ๐ฉนPersonal essentials โ Medication and ordinary blister care
11. Avoid these group mistakes
โ Choosing flights before the division day
The event spans five days. A cheap Saturday flight is useless if an athlete is assigned Friday.
โ Staying beside the nightlife
Put sleep and the RDS first. Central Dublin is easy to visit after the race.
โ Depending on one taxi
Large groups split across cars. Save a public-transport route and a walkable fallback.
โ Using an old movement standard
Read the 2026/27 rulebook and the event-specific guide. Social clips are not the rules.
12. Sources and final checklist
Details were checked on 3 September 2026 against the official HYROX Dublin listing and current rulebooks, the RDS transport pages, and Transport for Ireland fare information. Recheck before payment and again in race week.
- Confirm division, partner or relay team before ticket sales.
- Hold flexible arrival and departure until the division schedule is live.
- Book Ballsbridge for simplicity or Sandymount/Grand Canal Dock for balance.
- Save the assigned wave, RDS entrance and meeting point offline.
- Track who has paid for the ticket, room and shared dinner.
