LA 2028 Olympics One-Week Itinerary: See Multiple Sports Without Crossing LA Every Day

A good LA 2028 Olympics week groups tickets by venue zone; a bad one tries to cross Los Angeles between two tightly timed sessions because the sports look close on a schedule.

1. Quick facts and the first decision

Trip shape

Seven nights and six full days, plus arrival and departure

Anchor zones

Downtown, Exposition Park, Inglewood and Long Beach

Rest day

One flexible beach or sightseeing day

Rule

Move example days to the dates on your real tickets

This is a flexible planning sequence, not a claim that particular sports run on these exact days. Use LA28’s live competition schedule and ticket details when assigning calendar dates; venue operations and Games shuttle routes may change.

2. Before the week: choose your ticket anchors

Choose a home base after the group has two or three must-see sessions. LA28 places judo at LA Convention Center and artistic gymnastics at DTLA Arena, an example of a same-zone pairing. Athletics and ceremonies use LA Memorial Coliseum in Exposition Park. The Inglewood Zone holds 2028 Stadium and Intuit Dome; Long Beach has a separate group of waterfront venues. Keep optional sessions secondary to paid tickets.

🎟️ Ticket order

Write a shared must-see ranking and maximum price. LA28 says the second 2026 drop was the last general-public sale that year; 2027 will bring first-come opportunities with refreshed inventory, subject to availability. Do not fill the schedule with imaginary tickets while waiting for a sale.

πŸ—ΊοΈ One zone per day

Put each ticket into a zone column, then assemble a day. Two nearby sessions with a generous gap are better than a Downtown morning and Long Beach afternoon separated by a city crossing.

πŸ“… Calendar reality

The Games run July 14–30, 2028. The seven-day structure below is movable. If your preferred final occurs in the second week, shift the entire trip or swap the zone days; do not imply every sport plays throughout the Games.

3. Days 1–2: arrive and explore Downtown

Day 1 is for LAX arrival, check-in, supplies and a low-effort walk. Residence Inn or Courtyard at L.A. LIVE are examples near the Downtown arena and convention-center campus. Do not schedule an expensive evening session after a long international flight. On Day 2, book one Downtown priority sport and perhaps a second later session in the same zone.

✈️ Arrival route

LAX/Metro Transit Center links the C and K Lines with airport terminal shuttle connections today. A shared rideshare can be sensible for several tired travelers with bags, but compare its final total against rail and take traffic into account. Record the hotel’s exact address and check-in time.

🏟️ Downtown event day

Use the official ticket’s venue and gate instructions. DTLA Arena and LA Convention Center are close enough to consider in one day, but security, queues and session overruns still need space. Pick a simple group meeting point near the arena campus for dinner.

🍜 Dinner without a deadline

L.A. LIVE has many dining choices near the venues. Choose a shortlist and decide on the day rather than paying a cancellation penalty if an evening session finishes late. Friends without that session can eat earlier and rejoin afterward.

4. Day 3: Exposition Park and a slower evening

Reserve this day for any confirmed session at the LA Memorial Coliseum, Galen Center or another Exposition Park venue. LA Metro currently directs Coliseum visitors to Expo Park/USC on the E Line. Add the walk to the correct entrance and the event security buffer; the venue is not a railway platform.

πŸƒ Choose the right session

The Coliseum is an athletics anchor, but not every athletics final falls on every day. Prioritize the event you really want over the idea of merely seeing the stadium.

🌳 Use the area well

Exposition Park also has the California Science Center and Natural History Museum, useful daytime options if hours and ticketing align. Keep them optional; a competition ticket has first claim on the day.

😴 Protect the next morning

After a long outdoor session, plan a straightforward dinner near the hotel. A group that books every evening tightly will lose energy before the best sport days.

5. Day 4: Inglewood stadium and dome

Treat the Inglewood Zone as its own outing. LA28 lists 2028 Stadium at the SoFi site and Intuit Dome. Do not assume existing stadium-event parking, shuttle or rideshare rules will equal Olympic procedures. Metro’s Games Enhanced Transit Service is planned to bridge rail and venue hubs, but route and boarding details still require confirmation.

🏊 Build from the real ticket

2028 Stadium is listed for swimming. If a morning swimming session and evening basketball or another dome session both land on your chosen day, check the official schedules and transfer window before buying both. A venue pair in one zone is promising, not automatically easy.

🚍 Separate outbound and return plans

A rail-plus-shuttle approach may be practical. Save the final Games map and both your outbound and return pickup locations, and keep phones charged. After a full stadium empties, your group may not be able to improvise a rideshare in the closest street.

πŸ₯— Food and heat

Buy water and familiar food before the long venue day, subject to final bag and entry rules. July in Los Angeles can be hot. An indoor recovery break is more useful than adding another distant attraction.

6. Day 5: a true flexible day

Leave one day free for a beach visit, another ticket release, rest or a change caused by actual session times. Santa Monica and Venice are appealing, but choose one area rather than trying to see all of LA in one afternoon. LA28 places triathlon at Venice Beach, so a ticket there would convert the free day into a Venice Zone event day.

πŸ–οΈ Why a gap helps

The group can sleep, do laundry, check ticket transfers and recover from late returns. Someone with a solo sport can attend it without dragging everyone. A flexible day also protects the trip if a prior event or transport change pushes plans around.

🍽️ Make one group dinner count

Pick a restaurant near the hotel or the day’s final location and ask everyone for a budget ceiling. Put one reservation in the shared plan, not three speculative bookings that create fees.

πŸ—³οΈ Vote on optional activities

Let the group choose between beach, studio tour or no extra activity. The Olympic ticket basket is the core expense; sightseeing should not become another mandatory bill.

7. Day 6: Long Beach, then Day 7 buffer

Spend one full day in the Long Beach Zone if you hold tickets for Marine Stadium, Long Beach Arena, Belmont Shore or another waterfront venue. The Metro A Line runs between Downtown LA and Downtown Long Beach, yet individual sites need local transfers. Pine Avenue is a practical post-event meeting area. Keep Day 7 for your highest-priority remaining session or a lower-pressure farewell day.

βš“ Long Beach is not one gate

Marine Stadium, Belmont Shore and Downtown waterfront sites are spread out. Pin the ticket’s exact entrance and budget a local last mile. An A Line ride to Downtown Long Beach does not deliver you to every Olympic venue.

πŸš† Avoid the tight return

A late Long Beach session followed by an early flight or Downtown ticket is an avoidable strain. If Long Beach dominates the final two days, consider moving the last hotel night there only if the split-stay hassle is worth it.

🧳 Finish with a buffer

Day 8 is checkout and departure. Keep an airport transfer cushion and avoid a last-minute session unless the ticket, luggage storage and flight time genuinely work together.

8. What a week could cost

Using a two-person room for seven nights at an illustrative $220–$360 nightly, lodging is $770–$1,260 per person before taxes or hotel fees. Allow $280–$490 for food, $60–$180 for transit and occasional shared rides, and $100–$250 for a contingency. That gives $1,210–$2,180 per person before flight, Olympic tickets and optional sightseeing. These are planning assumptions, not quotes for July 2028.

πŸ’³ Current transport benchmark

LA Metro’s current regular fare caps are $5 a day and $18 over seven days for eligible same-method payments. The full Olympic transport product and final special services have not been set in this example; revisit the official Metro plan nearer travel.

🎫 Tickets are a separate variable

LA28 announced at least one million $28 tickets and a third under $100 across the program. A popular final can cost far more or may be unavailable. Decide what your group is willing to pay before anyone enters checkout.

πŸ‘₯ Group money rules

Use one shared expense list for lodging, essential local transport and any agreed dinner. Keep personal sport sessions and solo attractions separate. Note the cancellation deadline beside each hotel or activity deposit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see multiple Olympic sports in one week?

Yes, especially if you cluster sessions within the same LA28 zone and leave adequate time between venues. Actual sports and dates depend on the ticketed competition schedule.

Can Downtown and Long Beach fit in one day?

They can, but the cross-city trip needs a generous buffer. A full Long Beach day is usually easier for a group.

Is this an official Olympic schedule?

No. It is a movable seven-day travel plan; assign days only after confirming official session dates, ticket times and venue access.

How much is a week at LA 2028?

The sample non-ticket, non-flight reserve is $1,210–$2,180 per person with two sharing a room for seven nights. Actual July 2028 rates and ticket selections will determine the final price.
